My measure of leadership

Rubbish Leadership, musings, Work No Comments
For somebody who grew up with major inferiority complex I do talk a lot whenever we have somebody new in the team. I usually have a few pointers and expectations but I am consistent in conveying what my goals as a leader is. This has always been my challenge to my new members:
MAKE ME OBSOLETE. ONCE THAT IS DONE THEN I HAVE DONE MY WORK PROPERLY.
This notion isnt completely new. I was watching an episode in the fictional series “Da Vinci’s Demons ” and there was a flashback scene wherein Leonardo’s master Andreas called him to an empty workshop. The dialogue goes something like this :
Leo: Am I in trouble again Master?
Andreas: Not this time Leo. This is to be yours. It is time for you to create your own work, to show off what you can do.
Leo: I dont know what to say…
Andreas: How about accepting it with gratitude? *extends to offer a hand shake*
Leo: *shakes hand* Thank you Master!
Andreas: *smiling* No my boy, it is just Andreas now.
The goal plays with one of my appropriated and mangled quotation:
Don’t walk behind me for I may not lead.
Don’t walk in front of me for I may not follow.
Walk beside me so we may learn from each other.
ciao!
