3-day detox diet retrospective

Rubbish detox, diet, health No Comments
I was interested in the juicing and smoothie diets especially with their claims in helping the body detoxify. I came across the Dr. Oz 3-day detox diet plan which looks feasible. I started it 4 days ago and created a page on what I did differently.
The diet is done and here are the pros and cons for going through the detox diet:
Advantages
- I lost 3.7 kilos after going through the detox. I started the diet at 107.7 kilos and my weight each morning is as follows: 106.6,104.9,104. Not bad, eh?
- The lunch drink is actually tasty if the celery is passed through a food processor.
- The smoothie drinks will be more palatable if they are cold.
- My bowel movement on the 3 days was… interesting.
Disadvantages
- My bowel movement on the 3 days was… interesting. 😉
- The $16/day budget isnt true. The cost of some of the items pushed the total spend to about $60 for the whole thing. I bought the fruits and vegetables in a local wet market to cut cost.
- The low-energy and headache effects are true. I also got killer cramps although I dont know if that can be attributed to the diet.
- Preparation and cleanup is a real time killer.
Other things to consider
- The dinner drink really needs the blueberry. And make sure the pepper isn’t too much.
- Make sure the mango is sweet and the avocado is ripe.
- Consider having the 10 grams of protein each day. I only availed of it on the second day though.
- If you have the space, chop up the ingredients for the next two drinks and put them in plastic bags. It is really a time saver.
Am I going to do this again? Not in the near future. Going through it is a test of will. I will however use the knowledge gained in making fruit and vegetable smoothies and incorporate it in my regular diet. I am sticking with the GM Diet for my cleansing and diet needs in the future. 🙂
ciao!
